The Nationals defeated the Braves in 13 innings Monday night in Washington

Atlanta second baseman Dan Uggla simply couldn’t get the ball out of his glove when trying to throw home on a grounder that was ruled an infield single and let the Nationals score the winning run and hand the Braves a heartbreaking 5-4 loss in 13 innings after Monday night turned into Tuesday morning at Nationals Park. The series continues Tuesday night at 7:00 PM.  Meanwhile, the Braves signed veteran first baseman Lyle Overbay to a minor league contract. The 35-year old first baseman, released by Arizona on August 5, will report to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
