Attempted murder charge filed

A 33-year old Oconee County man has been jailed in Walhalla, charged with attempted murder, the result of an incident early yesterday morning at a home near Westminster. Law enforcement reports identify the man charged as Jim Savage of Savage Lane, Seneca. A sheriff’s officer, responding to an address on Holbrooks Circle, Westminster, quoted the resident as saying two men came to his door around 1 a-m Tuesday and one of them demanded that he drive them somewhere. According to the officer’s report, the homeowner said Savage went into his bedroom, picked up a .22 rifle, and shot at him one time. The two began to wrestle on the floor.
