A 26-year old rural Oconeean is behind bars in Walhalla, charged with homicide by child abuse in the death of his seven-month old niece. Oconee Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of McKenzie Lee Turner, 26, of Hicks Lane, Seneca, uncle of the late Amy Genesis Stashluk. The brief announcement reads: “Further details regarding the case are not available for release at this time due to an ongoing criminal investigation and pending autopsy results.” Coroner Karl Addis reported the death of the seven-month old Fair Play infant as occurring Monday night in the pediatric ICU at Greenville Memorial Hospital. According to Addis, a medical assessment by physicians found the child to have a non-accidental head injury. An autopsy will be undertaken to further document the injuries of Amy Genesis Stashluk.
