AP Top 25: Gamecocks hold steady; Tigers climb two spots

The South Carolina football team held steady in the AP College Football Poll release Sunday, ranking sixth for the second straight week.  The Gamecocks (5-0, 3-0 SEC) are coming off a 38-17 SEC road win at Kentucky on Saturday night, extending their winning streak to nine straight games, tying the school record. They will host the fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0 SEC) in a key SEC Eastern Division showdown on Saturday, October 6, at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. Game time is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN. ESPN’s GameDay crew will be in Columbia, as well as ESPNU’s Road Trip show.  Meanwhile, Clemson moves up from #17 to #15 in the nation.  The Tigers had a 45-31 road win over Boston College on Saturday.  Alabama remains #1, followed by Oregon at #2, Florida State moves up to #3, while LSU moves down to #4.  Georgia remains #5, with the Gamecocks #6.  The rest of the top ten featurs Kansas State, West Virginia, Notre Dame and Florida.
