At 8 o’clock this morning, Westminster officially welcomed Dean Awalt as its new chief of police. Clerk-Treasurer Jennifer Adams administered the oath of office to Awalt, a former Seneca policeman, to replace Scott Bannister, who had resigned. Awalt immediately began to become further familiar with his new law enforcement jurisdiction. According to Adams, newly-promoted Lt. Rory Jones gave Awalt a driving tour throughout the corporate limits.
