A new position is being created in the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department. It’s the job of public information officer. Promising good benefits and a salary of nearly $33 thousand, the job was posted yesterday. Among the requirements: “This position serves as media liaison by handling media inquiries, writing news releases, being pro-active in social media communication, and organizing press conferences.” Applicants should have a background of a bachelor’s degree in political science, journalism, marketing or related field and three to five years of experience in media service, public relations, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
